Stand up comedy is something that artists have been doing for quite a while now, in english and regional languages, but the problem is the way they do it in most of the regional languages, its on tv, and, tv is slapstick comedy, the kind of humour that is enjoyed by 9 year olds, with background sound effects, susu potty jokes and people tending to undergo temporary physical damage, but what english comics are doing is quite exquisite. Because they talk about the real world, they learn, experience, are let down, fail, understand and then try to teach you not to commit mistakes in your life with a perception of wisdom that took them a hard path to learn. It's like a motivational speech with sometimes subtle, but intelligent humour. It's like sitting in a bhaagwat, but with personal interest, and not beacuse your parents forced you to. And a lot of people who hear them understand their POV and realize/learn a new way to look at the world which is so mesmerizing and refreshing that we can't go back to what we looked at it as. These comedians really hold great power because they hold the audiences minds on the edge, they make the crowds go berzerk, wild, emotional, happy, sad... And when the comic takes a pause, everyone in that room goes ghost-quiet, that is when he/she really knows that they are being heard and not just heard but being absorbed into each one of their solitudes. He/she receives the intrinsic aproach with solidarity and a round of applause out of peer pleasure, that has been earned, something that was truly deserving. The general public though is defensive and go on to say and i quote,"why english? Why not your regional language or mother tongue?" to which, i believe our way of education be held up responsible, for we had been and have been taught, as children, to use english as a primary language, which we are stuck to. I feel the need to put it out there that these artists are also great minds and are not appreciated to the fullest for what they are capable of, that is making the world a more empathic place by sharing the learned and spreading joy and happiness and leaving us with a variety of emotions, craving and desiring for more of their abundant idea of the existing reality.
Sincerely, the man on stage.
Honestly, a good one.
